Inside Washington Publishers is a news agency located in Arlington, Va. that focuses on various branches of the federal government and the major policy decision makers. It covers everything from Energy to Trade, Health Care, Defense and the Environment through online Web sites that are updated daily and weekly or bi-weekly newsletters. I was employed by the Health Care Group from the summer of 2002 through the end of 2003 where I was a beat writer covering the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). On occasion, I was "loaned" out to the Energy Group and reported for Chemical Policy Alert and Energy Washington Week.
The greatest accomplishment of my reporting career occurred while with Inside Washington when I broke a national story on the ephedrine-based dietary supplement manufacturer Metabolife, which was trying to hide more than 1,300 adverse event reports (AERs) from the FDA.
Below is a collection of my work with IWP, which you may download to view.
